Thank you for visiting our web page! I will tell you the story that encouraged my wife and me
to create this web page.
It was 1983. We can safely say that at that time, keeping Bedlington Terriers was in its
infancy. In Hungary, only a tiny percentage knew of the breed. As most people did at that
time, we first met the breed by going through books about dogs. That is when we decided that
we wanted a dog like this. Thanks to a lucky encounter, soon our dreams got true; we got
Jessy (who was with us for 16 years), with whom everything started.
We became fans! Tövisrózsakerti Gigi “Jessy” was the 13th dog of this breed in the country.
We started to get seriously invested, and we became devoted Bedlington owners. There were
dog shows- mainly domestic- service, etc. We managed to get a dog from the Czech Republic.
Later on, we gained many connections, and we managed to buy a dog from a famous British
kennel (Rathsrigg), whose name was Gini. In the meantime, we participated in many dog
shows and competitions, being more and more successful. We owned 12 dogs and 23 puppies
out of 8 beddings in our Carmencita kennel. I can safely say that it became more than just a
hobby; it became a part of our lives. In 2001, we started construction work, and with 3 kids on
top of work and the construction, we had less and less free time. Unfortunately, we had to
stop participating in competitions and dog shows.
In the meantime, we continuously had Bedlington Terriers until 2015. Then, with the death of
Amina, a long and exciting period of our life ended. After 31 years, we were left without a
Bedlington Terrier.
I am not telling a huge secret if I say that our story did not end here. We indeed thought that it
was over. However, after a few months, we realised: it is possible to live without a Bedlington
Terrier, but not for us! We felt a great void but never said it out loud. In the spring of 2016, I
decided (without the knowledge of my wife) that we needed a Bedlington Terrier no matter
what. I came to an agreement with the owner of a Slovakian kennel. We could choose from
two female dogs, but at this point, I wanted to include my wife, so she came to Slovakia with
me. We arrived at the place where the puppies were, and it was there where she realised why
we went. She could not hide her feelings when she saw the dogs. That is how Olivia Sun
Garden Calypsa became a part of our family. The professionally recommended kennel lived
up to its expectations- she turned out to be a beautiful puppy, and we decided: WE WILL
CONTINUE!
We will continue the path that we used to walk on. Even though we had a small break, it did
not change our dedication and unbroken adoration that we always felt towards the promotion
of the breed.
In the meantime, our kids grew up, and we had time again to participate in more competitions
and dog shows. So, we returned, and it was not a secret that our goal was the wide-ranging
presentation of the breed, providing information about the competitions and dog shows, and
last but not least, the preservation and building of an already existing, excellent community.
